In the past year or so, I’ve been working to expand my storytelling as a songwriter, and I do that mostly by imagining myself in someone else’s shoes. In this case I’m thinking of someone much younger than me, who’s getting started in the world but doing so in a way that’s closing themselves off from other people. I think that the more you isolate yourself, the heavier your load gets.
