Labor Of Love

Like most songwriters, I keep a notebook full of ideas. I was flipping back through it recently and I came across this line, which I vaguely remember jotting down:
You carry on but your heart is hurting
Labor of love for a beast of burden
My favorite pop songwriter of all time is Roland Orzabal of Tears for Fears, and I thought this was the most Roland-esque line I had ever come up with. So I set out to make the most Tears for Fears-esque track I could make, and “Labor of Love” is the result. I love Tears for Fears from the 80s all the way through to the present, but I was shooting for that big 80s sound here.
