Starts To Fade
Looking back a mile or two in our wake
Pictures of our glory days start to fade
We slept the dreamless sleep of those who have no worries
The days were never ending, so we had no need to hurry
But it starts to fade
In the back of my mind
It slips away
From the back of my mind
You roll into your driveway long past dinner time
Wife and kids are sleeping as you stand in the kitchen, putting ice in a glass and a twist of lime
And it happened halfway round the world, but I’m still stuck here in the meeting
Then the market took a tumble, yeah our share price took a beating
And it starts to fade
In the back of my mind
It slips away
From the back of my mind
Remember standing in the ocean when the sun came up
We didn’t know that it was special, we were fools enough
Remember playing music on the boardwalk late at night
As the beautiful old city sparkled
But it starts to fade
In the back of my mind
And it slips away
From the back of my mind
Were we at all the same
As these people we became
What got lost here
Versus what we pruned away
It’s hard to say
